The General Council of Agricultural Development – CGDA – is a high level policy Think Tank of the Ministry of Agriculture established in 1993.
CGDA conducts analysis on a wide range of topics related to agriculture and rural development. It has contributed significantly to formulating the reforms of the agricultural sector. By taking a mid- to longer-term view, the Council is creating a national dialogue on ways to improve the competitiveness of the agri-food sector and their policy implications, and contribute to the well-being of rural people.
Drawing on scientific research, CGDA makes practical proposals to shape policy decisions taking into account global dynamics and local specifications. It benefits from the support of an international panel composed of prominent experts and scientists. It has forged over the years partnerships with a wide range of national and international scientific and development organizations.
CGDA publishes yearly “the State of Morocco’s Agriculture” which is widely disseminated to policymakers, professionals and academia.
The Council reports directly to the Minister. Its missions are established by Decree No. 2.93.24 of May 13, 1993 as follows:
